Project Brief
The main question for the creation of this project:
How can I combine sober curiosity and the love of literature to create a sensory experience allowing readers to immerse themselves into the world of their book?
Parchedment is a subscription based book service that allows readers to experience their books in a more immersive, stimulating way. Each Parchedment box takes elements of the chosen story, whether it be the location, a character trait, etc. and provides a craft mocktail aligning with the story.
The prototype box for Parchedment focuses on Pride and Prejudice, a personal favorite of mine. The design elements were inspired by the English style of the late 1700's, where the novel takes place.

Design Process
Trend Research
I started my research by sorting through rising trends on social media and elsewhere, mainly focusing on the beverage space and literature related trends. I gathered that book subscription services are more and more popular each year, along with the idea of "sober curiosity." I found that the intersection between these two trends allowed for an exploration of sensory experiences involving both books and beverages.
Physical Books
29% of 1600 Readers who had some sort of media subscription used a physical book subscription

I decided to create a book subscription service that focused on enhancing the reading experience through curated book and paired beverages.
Each Parchedment box contains:
Any book of your choosing from our expansive library
Parchedment bookmark with custom artwork based on the book selection, including the recipe for the themed mocktail
Ingredients for the themed mocktail with reusable collectible jars
Parchedment sparkling water— to quench your thirst for literature!
